Description: <DIV STYLE="text-align:Left;font-size:12pt"><DIV><DIV><P><SPAN>This map service contains the streams listed on the Kansas Surface Water Register (KSWR) as of February 18, 2021. Originally adopted in 1994 as a part of the state's water quality standards, the KSWR lists the major classified waters of the state along with their use designations. (A classified surface water is any surface water or segment that supports (or, in the absence of artificial sources of pollution, would support) one or more designated uses of surface water defined in K.A.R. 28-16-28d. More information can be found in K.A.R. 28-16-28b through 28-16-28g and K.S.A. 2017 Supp. 82a-2001, and amendments thereto.) </SPAN></P><P><SPAN /></P><P><SPAN>At the time of adoption, not all water bodies had their uses declared. Subsequent revisions to the register have expanded on this dataset. </SPAN></P><P><SPAN /></P><P><SPAN>Please note that the register defines stream segments by upstream and downstream coordinates. The geometry contained in this service was derived from the National Hydrography Dataset, so it should be used as a representation only.
